Catalysts with different hydrogenation and acidity properties were prepared in order to improve the activity and stability of HDM catalyst. The catalyst properties were characterized by the Pyridine infrared, XPS, H<sub>2</sub>-TPR and TG. HDM performances of different hydrogenation catalysts show that low active metal could be more appropriate for the HDM activity. Characterization of spent catalysts with different acidity shows that HDM catalyst with low acidity would be more appropriate for the stability of VR hydrodemetallization.
