Organometallic complexes of the type shown in Figure 1 have been synthesized. The M1 center is designed to be a light-harvesting component and exhibits strong absorbance in the visible spectrum. The M2 center, coordinated to the N-heterocyclic carbene moiety, functions in known catalytic processes. Metals include but are not restricted to (M1=Ru) and (M2=Pd, Ni). Synthesis of these complexes and preliminary data dealing with their chemistry will be presented.
