Cubic M8L6 metallocages have recently been synthesized from tetraminoporphyrin, pyridyl aldehyde, and Fe(II).  The complexes feature a large (1400 Å3) void space with small (&lt;1Å) pore size capable of selectively binding large aromatic guests.   In this presentation we will focus on binding of coronenes and helicenes within the cube.  The cubic M8L6 cages can encapsulate three coronenes.  The kinetics of encapsulation as followed by 1H NMR provide insight into the mechanism of encapsulation.  Because the M8L6 metallocages are chiral, encapsulation of chiral pentahelicene can tell about the cage’s chiral recognition properties.
