In view of the fast-growing market for electric vehicles and portable electronic devices, supercapacitors with efficient power delivery are projected to be highly promising electrochemical energy storage devices in further power elites. Although asymmetric supercapacitors are verified with attracting advantages, the energy density is still restricted by the low electrochemical double layer capacitance (EDLC) of carbon anodes (&lt; 200 F g-1), and is further undermined by its large mass-loading to match the pseudocapacitive cathodes. In this respect, constructing symmetric capacitors can effectively solve this dilemma. However, it is almost impossible for traditional carbon capacitors to meet the supplies of high capacitances in consideration of the physical charge storage mechanism. Herein, we present high-voltage symmetric supercapacitors constructed with N-containing graphitic carbons (NGC). Incorporating the features of porous structure, graphitic texture, and copious heteroatom-functionalities into entirety, NGC demonstrates astonishing single-electrode capacitance of 608 F g-1 at a large scan rate of 10 mV s-1. Due to the involved faradic reactions, the presented symmetric cell delivered a high capacitance (Ctotal) of 252 F g-1 at 1 A g-1, exhibiting a promotion even over the generally-acknowledged high-voltage asymmetric systems while retaining impressive cycle stability (5000 cycles).
