As an important anion, fluoride shows different chemical, biological and medical application from industry pollution to a therapeutic reagent for osteoporosis and dental protection. The biofunctions of fluoride, beneficial or poisonous effect, significantly rely on its dose and concentration. Therefore, developing a simple and robust approach for quantitative detection of F- is highly desired for understanding its functions. In our research group, several reaction-based F- sensors have been developed by using trimethylsilyl ether as the recognition unit to quantitative detection of F- based on various mechanisms. These sensors showed high affinity to fluoride with short response time.
