Poly (2-(2’-methoxyethoxy)ethyl methacrylate) (PMEO<sub>2</sub>MA), poly (oligo(ethylene glycol) methacrylate) (POEGMA) and poly (MEO<sub>2</sub>MA-co-OEGMA) brushes were grafted on the surface of ultra-​large-​pore SBA-​15 silica using surface-​initiated activators regenerated by electron transfer (ARGET) atom transfer radical polymerization. Loading of polymers can be controlled over a wide range by changing the polymerization time. High loadings of polymers (up to ~34 wt. %) were achieved without the pore blocking. The resulting nanoporous materials were characterized by thermogravimetry, nitrogen gas adsorption, Fourier transform infra-red spectroscopy (IR) and small angle X-​ray scattering (SAXS).
