Biomaterial strategies that precisly control the release of multiple growth factors are emerging importance to various field including drug delivery, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Here we describe photochemical strategy that enable independant and sequential control over multiple growth factors using light of different wavelengths. To achieve this, multiple photocleavable units that are selective to particular wavelength of light were designed and synthesized. These photoclevable units were then covalently tethered into a hydrogel scaffold and then specfic gorwth factors were released by exposing the gel to specfic wavelength of light. Specically, we demonstarte sequential induction of diffrent cellular signals by the sequntial release of dual growth factors into a stem cell colony. We expect that the remotly controlled multiple protein release startegy would bring forth intersting newfound opprotunities to real-time control and study stem cell growth and diffrentiation.
