Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a primary anthropogenic greenhouse gas and one of the leading contributors to global warming. Significant efforts are being made to limit the annual CO2 emissions. There are different techniques that can be used for the post combustion capture of CO2: chemical absorption, adsorption, membrane separation, and cryogenic distillation. Each of the technique has their own advantages and limitations. This conference paper aims at reviewing the available techniques for post combustion capture of CO2 and discusses the scope for future research. Of the available four techniques, amine absorption is considered to be the most effective technique. Several studies have attempted to use Polyethylenimine (PEI) that led to a higher degree of success in the capture of post combustion CO2 due its high adsorption nature. Based on the review of the literature, it is recommended that future research be based on examining the use of PEI in combination with Titanate (TiO2) nanotubes for post combustion capture of CO2; where TiO2 has the property of being highly porous. This combination of PEI with Tio2 is expected to remove post combustion CO2 more effectively.
