CO2 as one of the most main greenhouse gases and a kind of potential carbon energy, the conversion of CO2 into high value-added hydrocarbon fuels has been persistently drawing attention. Herein, zero-valent copper synergize with 3D Co3O4 nanotube arrays for visible-light driven PEC reduction of CO2 was proposed. Formate was the only C1 product from CO2 PEC reduction process, and the yield of formate outnumbered most of the reported works within 8 h PEC reduction process. That enhanced yield of formate could be owing to the self-support 3D Co3O4 NTs/Co structure and the band bending between the interface of Co3O4 NTs and Cu nanoparticles. The self-support 3D Co3O4 NTs possessed the characteristic of more active sites and light harvesting, allowing the outstanding PEC response of CO2. The deposited Cu NPs further improved the electrocatalytic activity of Co3O4 NTs electrode, and endowed the electrode with superior photocatalytic activity.And such PEC reaction interface ensured the protonation of reduction intermediate .CO2- and desorption of the protonated products HCOO-, thus resulting in high-yield and selectivity synthesis of formate from CO2.
