Studies of the thermodynamics of actinide reactions have played a central role in the discovery of the actindes and elucidation of their bonding interactions. As a contemporary, friend, and colleague of Professor Heino Nitsche, the author of this abstract (like Professor Nitsche) benefitted considerably from the tremendous contributions of our scientific forebears. In the spriit of a tribute to Heino, this presentation will focus on the role and impact of actinide thermodynamic data on the advancement of actinide science.
