A hybrid approach to the traditional lecture format and the newer flipped classroom pedagogy has been launched in the Organic Chemistry I and II lecture sequences as well as our Intermediate Organic Chemistry Course, which is a one semester short course.  Short video lectures ranging from five to twelve minutes have been utilized to provide more in class time to work with students on problem solving skills.  Each chapter includes two to five short videos, accompanied by on online quiz to be taken before class begins.  The students may use their notes, the book, or the video to take the quiz, but must work alone.  This arrangement is designed to allow for roughly twenty five minutes of lecture and twenty five minutes (or more) of problem solving time for each class period.   Preliminary results, including class participation, challenges, grade distribution and student feedback regarding the “half-flipped” model will be discussed.  <br/>
