Design principles for new organometallic complexes capable of catalyzing enantioselective intermolecular atom transfer C-H functionalization reactions will be discussed. New catalysts designed specifically for C-H functionalization with classes of diazo compounds and metallonitrene precursors that are typically difficult to control are presented.
