Two 100Fe/4Cu/4K/6Zn were prepared using coprecipitation (Cat_C) and impregnation (Cat_I) method, and the effect of these preparation methods on the catalyst structure and FTS activity in biomass derived syngas were investigated. Syngas was derived from gasifying Southern Pine woodchips and has the composition of 3.1% CH4, 11% CO2, 17 % H2, 22% CO and balance N2. The results show that the coprecipitated Zn-promoted catalyst has higher extent of reduction and carburization, which led to higher carbon conversion and C5+ selectivity in this CO2-rich syngas than the impregnated catalyst.
