The application of hydraulic fracturing has lowered the cost of natural gas producing a renaissance of the chemical industry in North America. Low priced natural gas makes light alkane dehydrogenation a potentially advantaged technology for olefin production.<br/><br/>The development of nickel based catalysts for propane dehydrogenation will be presented. Catalyst performance (i.e. propane conversion and selectivity to propylene), deactivation and characterization will be reported. The effect of nickel-aluminate and nickel concentration on catalyst performance, along with catalyst coking will be presented. A potential synergistic relationship between nickel and main group promoters will be discussed.<br/>
