In recent years there has been a plethora of research in the area of main group organometallic catalysts incorporating calcium, magnesium, and aluminum. Our research group has particular interest in the use of organoaluminum complexes in organic transformations. Recently we have started investigating the use of the bis(2-(1-methylimidazolyl)methyl)amine ligands as a support framework for aluminum and gallium alkyls.<br/>We have prepared a series of group 13 ligated complexes (metal = Al, Ga) that will serve as precatalysts for hydroamination of aminoalkenes. Details of the syntheses and characterization of ligands and complexes will be presented.
