The reaction of ZrCl4 with 3 equiv of Li[MeC(NiPr)​2] afforded a heptacooridnate zirconium amidinate complex Zr[MeC(NiPr)​2]​3Cl (1). Zr​[MeC(NiPr)​2]​3Me (2) was prepared by reacting 1 with 1 equiv of MeLi. 1 and 2 were characterized via NMR spectroscopies and elemental analysis. 1 was also studied by single crystal x-ray diffraction. Details about these complexes and their reactivities will be presented.
