The synthesis of metal-organic frameworks with Brønsted acid moieties is usually tedious and the study of metal-organic frameworks as a heterogeneous Brønsted acid catalyst is limited. A novel UiO-66-(COOH)2 material has been obtained in a one-pot fashion. This heterogeneous Brønsted acid material was able to promote the formation of a variety of nitro-Mannich and Mannich adducts in moderate to good yields. Furthermore, the as-synthesized UiO-66-(COOH)2 catalyst can be recycled several times without compromising the catalytic activity. The catalyst optimization was performed taking advantage of the newly developed cloud computing strategy.
