Heterobimetallic complexes, which contain two different metals as well as an organometallic leaving group, are used as precursors to install two metals in close proximity on the nodes of the metal organic framework (MOF), NU-1000, via solution-based methods. The bimetallic-containing MOFs are characterized by a suite of physical methods and spectroscopies. The results show that the two metals are deposited in a 1:1 ratio.
