The American Chemical Society Chapter at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County is a diverse community of students from a variety of STEM fields with a common interest in chemistry. Together, these different backgrounds allow us to put on a diverse array of activities and invited speakers. We have multiple social events throughout the school year to increase the sense of community within our group. Our chapter puts on science nights at various elementary and middle schools to increase the students’ interest in science. We also raise money on campus through sales of baked goods, t-shirts, beaker mugs, as well as other fundraising efforts for the club’s activities and other philanthropic events such as Relay for Life. With 129 active members, we successfully manage to unite a diverse group of people over a common goal of bringing chemistry to the general public.
