We compare the sensitivity of a new high resolution melt (HRM) PCR multiplex assay for three food-borne pathogens to other assays including commercial tests. The HRM PCR assay employs highly specific primers to identify the three genetically similar food-borne pathogens: Salmonella enterica, Escherichia coli and Shigella flexneri. Specific amplicons with varying lengths and with unique melt peak locations were obtained from all species and simultaneously detected using LCGreen Plus without the need for expensive dye-labeled primers. The assay demonstrated high specificity and sensitivity with tested samples.
