In this contribution, we present a generic approach for the manufacturing of nanocomposite thin films composed of metal sulfide nanoparticles dispersed in a solid polysaccharide matrix. This semiconductor nanoparticle-polymer hybrid material is a powerful tool in the investigation of new photovoltaics, non-linear optics, optoelectronic devices as well as in polymer-nanoparticle hybrid solar cells. The synthesis of the nanoparticles was done by thermal conversion of the metal sulfide precursor in the solid state and was monitored in real-time using a combined small and wide angle x-ray scattering (SWAXS) setup. The chemical composition and morphology were investigated by ATR-infrared spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy (AFM).
