Soluble derivative based on chitosan N-phthaloylchitosan and both biocompatible and biodegradable thermo-sensitive polymer monocarboxyl terminated poly(N-vinylcaprolactam) were synthesized as a carrier for the controlled delivery of hydrophobic drugs. The monocarboxyl terminated poly(N-vinylcaprolactam) showed a temperature-induced phase transition and LCST at 32 <sup>○</sup>C in aqueous solutions as observed by turbidity method.
