I will present the research from my group using the approach of coarse-grained molecular simulations for the investigation of protein folding and protein-protein interactions in a cellular environment. My group used low-resolution protein models that act like 'the real thing' by keeping principal physico-chemical interactions. With this approach, we are able to characterize the mechanism of protein folding and protein-protein interactions in tight space inside a cell. We will report the competition from the macromolecular crowding effect and the electrostatics on protein dynamics and interactions, as well as several new discoveries and testable predictions from our computational studies
