The philosophy of click chemistry has had an enormous impact on the design and synthesis of functional materials. Arguably, click-caliber reactions are most useful in iterative synthetic sequences that require multiple linear steps and/or convergent couplings of macromolecules. In this regard, we have developed two iterative exponential growth (IEG) strategies – "IEG+" and "flow-IEG" – that leverage click reactions to rapidly produce linear oligomers and polymers with precise mass, sequence, and stereochemistry. The synthesis and properties of these molecules will be described.
