Classroom-friendly computational chemistry tools have grown and evolved over the 25 years, but the development of suitable teaching materials has not kept pace. Even though organic chemistry students can easily lay their hands on an unprecedented array of mobile modeling tools, it is more difficult than ever to persuade teachers to make room for models in the curriculum. What is the hurdle that must be overcome: changing how teachers think about models, or changing how computational chemists think about organic chemistry?
