The use of active learning exercises in undergraduate analytical chemistry courses at Bates College will be described.  One of the courses covers the area of separation science.  The classroom is run in a collaborative learning format where students work in small groups on series of questions.  Active learning classroom materials on chemical equilibrium and chromatography have been developed for use in this course.  The separation science course has a laboratory and students work in groups to complete open-ended, semester-long analysis project.  A second course covers the areas of analytical spectroscopy and electrochemistry.  Active learning materials on molecular spectroscopy, atomic spectroscopy and electrochemistry have been developed for use in this course. All of the classroom materials (in-class problems, learning objectives, accompanying textual material and instructor’s manual) and laboratory materials (instructor’s manual) are available for free through the Active Learning site on the Analytical Sciences Digital Library (http://www.asdlib.org).  These approaches to teaching analytical chemistry are consistent with the <i>2015 ACS Guidelines</i> and the Analytical Chemistry Supplement published by the American Chemical Society Committee on Professional Training.  <br/>
