This presentation will describe two mechanisms for signal amplification. The first involves a base-mediated autocatalytic reaction and the second is controlled head-to-tail depolymerization of a polymer. Specifically, we have focused on methods to accelerate the rate of signal amplification in solid-state materials. Downstream applications of these reagents may include (i) stimuli-responsive materials that continue to amplify a fleeting signal, and (ii) point-of-care diagnostics.
