Toxoplasma gondii (T. gondii) causes toxoplasmosis. Tachyzoites are the most important stage as they come in direct contact with macrophages and other immune cells. New means of producing immunity against T. gondii are required in order to prevent toxoplasmosis. Recent research was tested the ability of Synthetic Immunostimulatory Glycans (SIG) for promoting mice immune responses against Toxoplasma infection in vivo. Influence of SIG on immune response of mice were assessed by study: A) effect of SIG on cell activation (in vivo cytokines production, B) protective effect of SIG on inflammation at tissue levels, and C) study the alteration of the leukocyte response to T. gondii infection. Results demonstrated that SIG stimulated cell activation by increased cytokines production while there were no important affects observed at tissue levels. Following T. gondii challenge infection, SIG increased the number of the monocytes up to 8%. The present study provides new SIG candidates that can be used in the development of new immunostimulant against T. gondii.
