The lecture will contain highlights of the recent advances in fluoromodifications of various polycyclic aromatic hydrocarocarbons, (PAHs) heterocyclic substrates and carbon clusters that have been carried out in our labs. We apply direct fluorination, perfluoroalkylation, and perfluorobenzylation to modify physicochemical properties of these substrates in order to prepare new functional materials for various applications. For example, conrolled introduction of trifluoromethyl groups to fullerenes or endometllofullerenes may lead to improved solublity, lower sublimation temperatures and enhanced acceptor properties, or highly fluorescent compounds. In case of  PAH substrates, we developed methods for  multiple substitutions with Rf groups that resulted in the new families of fluorocarbon molecules with finely tuned electronic properties and significant variations in the solid-state packing.<br/>Most recent examples of the applications of these new fluorinates materials in the organic electronics will be provided, with the insights into structure-function relationships.
