Efficient total syntheses of complex terpene natural products will be diclosed and the enabling synthetic tactics discussed. Emphasis will be placed on a discussion of the acylphloroglucinol and ophiobolin terpenoid families. The exploitation of oxidative synthetic processes, as well as new methods for complex polycycle synthesis, will be discussed.
