The legacy of Al Sattelberger at Los Alamos National Laboratory is one of people as well as chemistry.  The intersection of inorganic and organometallic synthetic approaches with the more familiar chemistry of actinides and other radionuclides he inspired offered the opportunity to think about these elements in new ways, and the results (by design, and sometimes by accident) challenged our understanding of the chemical behavior of these elements.  Interest in the nature of metal-ligand multiple bonding in actinide chemistry led to a revitalization of high-valent actinide molecular chemistry which continues to inspire new generations of actinide inorganic chemists.<br/>
