Organosilanes are common additives for a variety of industries, due to their ability to promote adhesion to inorganic and organic substrates. Their use in organic coatings can lead to improved film and system properties; however, establishing links between property improvement, chemical structure, and loading of these organosilanes remains challenging. This presentation will summarize our recent investigation of organosilane reactivity in solvent-borne epoxy coatings, which have helped elucidate relevant reactivity and made progress towards developing structure-function relationships in these systems.
