Molecular nanocrystals suspended in a non-dissolving fluid can be seen as a state of matter in transition between supramolecular entities and bulk crystals.<sup>  </sup>This analogy stems from the fact that most of the techniques and methods developed for the study of molecules and supramolecular entities in solution can be implemented to study spectroscopy and photochemistry in the solid state.   Considering that scattering, dichroism and birefringence scale as a function of the ratio between crystal size  and the wavelength of light, we have shown that it is possible to use transmission spectroscopy and laser flash photolysis methods to determine the spectroscopy and kinetics of crystalline solids in the 50-500 nm range.  This presentation will describe results obtained with several photochemical reactions in nanocrystals with transient spectroscopy and kinetics of excited states and reactive intermediates covering time scales from the femtosecond to the microsecond regimes.     <br/>
