The copper catalyzed multicomponent reaction of terminal alkynes, sulfonyl azides and nucleophiles has been of great interest to organic chemists as they generate a reactive ketenimine species. We have found pyridines to be a convenient nucleophile that engage with ketenimines to give iminoquinolizines.
