Newer direct methods of pyrazole synthesis have focused on industrial optimization and the implementation of alternative routes since the heterocyclic compound is highly valued in pharmaceutical and agrochemical industries. In this study, certain parameters of an established methodology for the synthesis of disubstituted pyrazoles from α,β-aldehydes and arylhydrazines have been investigated via molecular halogen-mediated oxidative C-N bond formation. The effects of various molecular halogens, α,β-unsaturated aldehydes, and arylhydrazines on this metal-free, regioselective synthesis have been examined and compared to determine which reagents afford the most efficient synthetic approach.
