Three-membered ring heterocycles that contain one carbon and two nitrogen atoms are called diaziridines. They are useful intermediates in the synthesis of more complex heterocyclic compounds. Although several studies on the synthesis and chemistry of 1,2-diaroyldiaziridines have appeared in the chemical Literature, there are no reports on their dibenzenesulfonyl, their 2-sulfobenzoyl, or their 1-aroyl-2-thioaroyl analogues. We are, therefore, attempting to synthesize a variety of these novel diaziridine derivatives in order to study their chemical reactivity. Our results on the continued progress towards making these diaziridine derivatives are the subject of this poster.
