Solubility is defined as the limit of a chemical substance, as a solute, to dissolve in a solvent to form a solution. Such a property depends on the state of the solute, the state of the solvent into which the solute is dissolved, and the conditions that the solution is exposed to. The IUPAC-NIST Solubility Database provides a review of published data for solubilities of gases, liquids and solids in gases and liquids. In this project, the data was transferred and organized into a scientific data model so it can be logically linked together. Such a data model was developed using JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) for Linked Data (JSON-LD). Solubility data of a wide range of compounds is available to the scientific community, and the use of the data model will facilitate access to and further analysis of such information in future studies. This project allowed the application of data management skills learned in the OLCC chemical informatics course to allow additional understanding of known chemical properties.
