A superfund site is a site deemed by the EPA to be contaminated with hazardous substances. This is extremely dangerous to both the environment and the people within the contaminated area. Water quality in a small, rural town in southeast Georgia near the Seven Out Superfund Site was analyzed for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) specifically benzene, trichloroethylene and tetrachloroethylene. Detection and determination was achieved via gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS). The presentation summarizes the experimental design and qualitative results of the project.
