Investigation on the properties of fluoro-organic compounds has been extensively increased in recent years due to their important application in pharmaceutical and agricultural industries. One aspect of these compounds that has gained an increasing interest is its ability to form a hydrogen bond between a fluorine atom and a suitable donor.The question is how similar this hydrogen bond is to the familiar ones that plays an important role in determining the secondary structure of DNA and proteins. This study presents the synthesis of fluorine containing compound: 2-fluorobenzyl alcohol, using 2-carboxybenzaldehyde as the starting substrate. The synthetic route consists of esterification, NaBH<sub>4 </sub>reduction, and BH<sub>3 </sub>reduction, to yield 2-fluorobenzyl alcohol.
