The Pasadena City College (PCC) Chemistry Club is committed to bringing chemistry to students and the community. The methods by which we pursue this goal are three fold: outreach, green chemistry awareness, and promotion of interdisciplinary science. Through our monthly outreaches we motivate and engage 5<sup>th</sup> graders about chemistry. Some of the interactive experiments we have done with these 5<sup>th</sup> graders include teaching them about physical and chemical changes, dissolution and solubility, and experiments from the 2015 ACS Celebrating Chemistry National Chemistry Week booklet. For our green chemistry programming, we have promoted solar technology with our DIY solar cell workshop, biofuel synthesis workshops, and recycling awareness events. Our commitment to making science an interdisciplinary collaborative process is expressed in all our events. We’ve partnered with a coding club (she.code) and the computer science club to promote the usage of raspberry pi computers for chemistry applications. In celebration of National Chemistry Week, our speaker panel elucidated the various professions under which color chemistry has an impact. Club members were given a history of the origins of the color blue by PCC chemistry professors at the Norton Simon Art Museum. We also sponsor social outings like a local nature bike ride and annual kickball game. As chemistry club we have succeeded in building a collaborative environment with other STEM fields on campus, and bringing chemistry to our surrounding communities with limited resources and supplies that can exist at any Community College.
