The buffer compound TRIS has been extensively studied in the temperature range (278.15) to (328.15) K using potentiometric technique of the cell type: Pt, H2 (g, 1 atm) │TRIS (m1) + TRIS●HCl (m2) + NaCl (m3) │ AgCl, Ag. The values of pH were calculated from the corrected experimental electromotive force (emf) data using the Bates-Guggenheim and Pitzer equationsfor the single ion activity coefficient, γCl-, for I = 0.16 mol●kg-1. The results will be compared with those of other biochemical buffers and will be discussed in terms of the physiological pH standards for clinical research.
