Recent studies in psychology and neuroscience suggest that the most critical obstacles for success of the chemistry student at two-year colleges are the lack of a sense of belonging and possessing a fixed-intelligence mindset.  If administration, faculty, and students are able to provide infrastructure, resources, and support that counteract these emotional preconceptions, then a larger percentage of students will achieve their academic goals.  Having an ACS Student Chapter that is led by fellow chemistry students, whose goal it is to provide guidance to fellow chemistry majors, is very important to achieving greater student success.  Student ACS Chapter officers will provide data and personal insight about overcoming emotional obstacles in order to achieve success. <br/>
