Metal–Biomolecule Frameworks (MBioFs) are new class of material comprising biomolecules as building blocks, which lead to biocompatible Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs). Biomolecules have several advantages over simple organic linkers like structural diversity, multi metal binding sites, intrinsic self-assembly properties and/or chirality. These metal-organic assemblies are potential candidates for several biological applications like drug delivery and intercellular imaging. Synthetic strategies involve an amalgamation of lanthanide metal salts to small biological compounds to create the unique metal-biomolecule framework. The synthesized products will be further tested for antineoplastic properties and the use as MRI contrast agents. The lanthanide series have shown antitumor activity, while not researched quite extensively, with the hopes of interacting with the central dogma of cells while additionally being ideal for magnetic imaging within the body due to the relaxation effect of the bonds of water molecules differentiated between tumorous and healthy somatic cells. The methodology behind the synthesis of these compounds amalgamates the individual lanthanides with a simple, nontoxic ligand where the single-crystal X-ray crystallography helps to determine the coordination of the molecule. Heterocyclic ligands are known to have anticancer property. Herein, the initial reactivity of the potentially tetradentate, alcohol based aromatic, chelate (N,O,O,O), 2-methyl-3-hydroxy-4,5-bis(hydroxymethyl)pyridine, commonly known as pyridoxine as an essential ingredient of vitaminB<sub>6</sub> has been investigated in lanthanide metal chemistry. The metal-biomolecule will be characterized by IR, <sup>1</sup>H NMR, UV-Vis, fluorescence and elemental analysis to explore chemical and physical properties for the lanthanide series. Additional reactivity with DNA will be assessed to determine the potential drug delivery activity if the metal complex attaches to the genetic material; therefore, the interaction of the two would be followed closely with UV-Vis, fluorescence and Circular Dichroism spectroscopy.
