Licochalcone A is a flavonoid isolated from herb licorice root and is known to have antitumor and anticancer properties.  Melanoma is the most dangerous type of skin cancer as it causes the most deaths of all forms of skin cancer each year.  Increased risks of developing melanoma can be due to factors such as sun exposure, skin type, and personal and family histories.  In this study, M624 human melanoma cells were treated with different concentrations of licochalcone A and melanoma cell proliferation was monitored at various time intervals.  This was done through clonogenic assays using crystal violet dye.  Statistical analysis of the results were performed using area absorbance readings of the clonogenic assays.
