Ru(II)(CNC) N-heterocyclic carbene pincer complexes have lately been studied as catalysts for the hydrogenation of various substrates including imines, esters, and carbon dioxide. In this work, a Ru(II)(CNC) complex was prepared and characterized by spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography, and cyclic voltammetry. This complex was chemically reduced to the Ru(0)(CNC) complex, which was characterized by spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. The reactivity and catalytic properties were examined and will be reported.
