Given our interest in using multidentate ligands to stabilize high-valent group 10 transition metal complexes, we have employed the tridentate ligand 1,4,7-trimethyl-1,4,7-triazacyclononane (Me3tacn) to stabilize various organometallic Ni<sup>II</sup> and Pd<sup>II</sup> complexes. Based on cyclic voltammetry data, these complexes exhibit accessible oxidation potentials. Indeed, several high-valent Ni and Pd complexes were isolated and characterized via X-ray crystallography and/or EPR spectroscopy. In addition, the C-C and C-heteroatom reactivity of these complexes was also investigated.
