In recent years, significant attention has been focused on designing and synthesizing d10 coordination molecular architect due to exciting photo-physical, catalytic and biological properties. In this context, we have prepared and structurally characterized 1-D silver(I) coordination polymer based on benzene-1,2,4,5-tetrathioethers, [C6H2(SiPr)4] ligand. The 1:1 complex formation between ligand and various silver salts such as AgNO3, AgPF6, AgOTf, Ag2SO4 and AgClO4 are structurally characterized. Reaction between benzene-1,2,4,5-tetrathioethers, [C6H2(SiPr)4] and HgCl2 also afforded 1D coordination polymer, whereas with HgBr2 and HgI2 formed binuclear complexes. Fundamental bonding insight and binding abilities of thioethers with Ag and Hg will be presented.
