In this presentation it will be described a basic chemistry of the new refrigerant HFO-1234yf (CF3CF=CH2, 3,3,3,2-tetrafluoropropene-1), the material which currently is commercialized by Chemours Co. The main types of transformations which will be presented in this talk include electrophilic, nucleophilic, cycloaddition reactions and some radical processes. In sharp contrast to perfluorinated analogs, CF3CF=CH2 was found to have quite unusual regiochemistry in nucleophilic and electrophilic reactions. New results along with some mechanistic aspects of HFO-1234yf reactivity will be discussed.
