The main purpose of this study is to examine the influence of different synthesize methods on the surface properties of our novel copper based metal organic framework and synthesize it with higher surface area and greater pore size. For this purpose, we suggested to synthesize our novel copper based metal organic frameworks with different synthesis strategies and compared their surface area, porosity and adsorption behavior. We basically synthesized our novel copper based metal organic frameworks by solvothermal and microwave assisted methods. For both of the processes we have investigated the effect of heating duration, heating temperature, solvent for washing, washing duration and filtration method (gravity separation and centrifuge), drying temperature and duration on the surface properties. In order to figure out the effect, samples prepared by different synthesis routes were characterized by X-ray diffractometer (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) method and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Nevertheless, samples with the highest surface area and greater pore size prepared by solvothermal and microwave assisted methods have been examined for hydrogen and heavy metal adsorption studies. In conclusion, proposed study has figured out a strategy that can achieve high surface area and porosity that a specific MOF can achieve by varying its synthesis conditions and within the copper based MOFs synthesized with different conditions by solvothermal and microwave assisted methods the one with the highest surface area is examined for its hydrogen and heavy metal adsorption capacity including the investigation of its adsorption thermodynamics and kinetics.
