In this talk, we report our group's new advances in transition-metal catalyzed difluoromethylation and polydifluoromethylenation reactions. Nickel, zinc, copper, and silver each display unique reactivities that can be exploited in their own ways to prepare novel organofluorine compounds and aid in the understanding of methodology development. The syntheses and reactivities of well-defined fluoro-organometallic complexes shed light on important mechanistic details of these new reactions.
